It’s been a very long, overwhelming summer for me. When my parents first told me about the Conference, I wasn’t that excited because I wasn’t in my best shape :/ However, I decided to give it a try. So I went, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything. However, God speaks to you through the tiniest things in life.
In the first worship session, when Farah and Mark were playing along with Grace’s singing, when I saw the genuine smile on the faces of the people around me I couldn’t help but smile myself. And I didn’t lose that smile till the end of the camp. Leaders where full of life and love, and you would find their work in the tiniest details of the camp, whether it was the sound system, the fliers, the evening programs…
The main topic of this camp was “Masks and Unmasking”. I learned that we all have our own set of masks (the good and the bad kind). The masks are born of shame, guilt or a need for change of routine. Some wear their masks occasionally and some start believing their own make-believe character. And we learned that it is never too late to unmask. I, among most others, learned how to sort out our lives and plans for the future. Keeping in mind that the Lord has the final touch in everything we decide to do.
Every person in the camp shined with his/her own talent, starting with technical issues to playing the guitar and doing dishes. The camp was a beautiful, unforgettable experience. When I look back, I will remember the walks on the beach and the tears of joy after prayers. I will remember the blessings that rained down on us in these 9 days.
The intervarsity team did a great job in this camp, and may the Lord continue His work through them and with them.
